Acupuncture

I achieved my Masters of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine at Oregon College of Oriental Medicine in 2016 and after bouncing around for a year and volunteering with the Acupuncture Relief Project in Nepal I moved to Fairbanks to take a job with the Tanana Chiefs Conference. While practicing at TCC, I decided to return to school and pursue my Doctorate of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine at Emperors College of Oriental Medicine in Santa Monica, California. Despite some pandemic related setbacks I completed that in November of 2022. My focus there was internal medicine and I wrote a capstone on acupoint stimulation for space related immune dysregulation. Among less glamorous homework and monthly trips to California I was able to volunteer with the Floating Doctors in Panama and return to Nepal, this time to teach and supervise in the ARP clinic. Though the DAOM is the highest degree achievable in the field of acupuncture I am never done learning and exploring and am now pursuing a Fellowship with the Academy of Wilderness Medicine.

While I loved my time integrating acupuncture into the allelopathic medical system at Tanana Chiefs Conference, in the summer of 2023 it started to feel like it was time for a change. Even though I knew I would miss my patients and colleagues in 2024 I started Spruce Needle Acupuncture. I am thoroughly enjoying growing something that is my own while offering the same care I always have. Care that is patient based with the intention to achieve the best quality of life possible. I am excited to meet you where you are at on your journey to achieve your health goals.

When I’m not working I enjoy scenic adventures in my local neighborhood in Goldstream and beyond, good books, time with my very cool partner Josh and our fluffy cat Oliva, and I have recently discovered birding.

Non-Discrimination Policy

Everyone is welcome in my clinic regardless of race, ethnicity, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, weight, age, or anything else that makes you who you are.  While I may ask questions about these topics if it is pertinent to your care I aim to create a safe, judgment free space where you can be yourself.

Land Acknowledgement

I respectfully acknowledge the indigenous culture on whose land I now practice. My clinic is located on the ancestral lands of the Dena'ina people of the interior lands and waters.

These are some cool organizations I’ve had the privilege of associating with. They are worth checking out.

Acupuncture Relief Project/Good Health Nepal

I love these organizations because they allowed me to grow so much as an acupuncturist but their primary goal is to grow acupuncture and health care in Nepal. In addition to integrating into the government health system ARP holds workshops for local providers and has even sent students to school to become doctors of acupuncture.

Musa Masala

Through a series of unfortunate events I lucked into a friendship with some members of Musa Masala.  I was supposed to be trekking with other members of the Wilderness Medical Society to the grand opening of the Wongchhu Memorial Hospital in Tapting, Nepal.  Between COVID-19 and the weather, plans changed. Instead I got to hang out with a founder of Musa Masala, an organization dedicated to wilderness education and supporters of the hospital.  I also spent some time with the driving forces dedicated to opening the hospital.

Wilderness Medical Society

As I mentioned in my bio I am currently working on a fellowship with the WMS.  They offer a lot of fun and educational programs.

Floating Doctors

I volunteered with the floating doctors for three weeks for hours towards my doctorate.  I gave one of the more unique treatments of my career and treated sea sickness with acupuncture (successfully) while on a large canoe.
